Getting to Machu Picchu There are a variety of ways to get to Machu Picchu from Cusco. These include: - By train to Machu Picchu Town. Allow three and a half hours from Cuzco. Train service is provided by PeruRail.
- By road to Ollantaytambo, then by train to Machu Picchu Town. Allow three hours. Train service is provided by PeruRail.
- By foot along the old Inca trail. Allow four or five days.
Once in town, a regular bus service operates between Machu Picchu Town and the Inca ruins where Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge is located. - Once arrived at Aguas Calientes train station in Machu Picchu approach the Consettur booth to buy your round trip bus tickets. Cost per couple USD$ 34.00 (subject to change) to be paid in local currency in cash.

- Aguas Calientes-Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge: from 5.30 am to 3.30 pm
- Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge-Aguas Calientes: from 6.00 am to 5.30 pm
- Buses depart every 20 minutes for an approximate 30 minute ride per way
- Please note that there are no taxis from Machu Picchu Town to the Machu Picchu Citadel, the only form of transportation is on public buses.
