Most visitors enjoy a full-day tour of Machu Picchu. However, if the time permits, we encourage you to spend two-days exploring. This trek around the ruins will enrich your understanding of the majestic site.
Climate
Benefiting from its forest-side location in the oriental mountains, Machu Picchu enjoys bright sunshine during the day. As the sun begins to set, the evenings become cooler, so you are advised to have warmer clothing on hand.
The subtropical climate grants generally mild weather. The average year-round temperature during the day is 16ºC (60ºF).
There are two distinct seasons. The dry one, from April to October, brings higher temperatures. A milder climate is common during the rainy season from November to March. We recommend that you carry bottled water, insect repellent, sun block, and cap and rain coat if you are visiting during this season.
